Game On

The Onclogist was eqaully unhappy with the latest labs. It is time to do soemthing different. He consulted with the doc at Stanford and they decided to go forward with the Bone Marrow Transplant. We got the call yesterday from Stanford telling us that was the case. They told us they would put a schedule together by the end of the week. It was in the Chickenhawks email by the end of the day.

Things are starting soon. We had hoped to pre-plan as much of this as we could but it is still going to be a last minute scramble. It is going to get really busy for us towards the end of this month. So here we go.

I am feeling excited to be moving forward and doing something other than waiting for drugs to work. I am also scared because the BMT does not sound like a walk in the park. It sounds pretty miserable really. But it is the best way too get back to healthy quickly that I can see so I am eager to get on with it. It is also going to be hard because I will be so helpless for such a long time. Not that that is much different than how I am now. Either way come the start of the TDF and I'll be working on the first parts of the BMT. It sounds like the process is going to take a few months all told.
Wish me luck.

S&S, I wish you not only luck but health and everything else that could possibly improve your lives. You have many strong shoulders to lean on when you get scared or feel helpless...utilize us. I talked to CH about my vision the other day & it only includes really good, fun stuff. And it involves bikes.....
Much, much love, Noey

Spencer - you just keep hanging on. The BMT will be a piece of cake. You can do this. You are a cyclist who is used to suffering. The BMT will be a walk in the park compared to some pain you have endured I am sure. :)

You just keep fighting!

Spencer,
So very glad that you have a mission and a plan to accompany it. I cannot imagine your frustration at (the continued) waiting game, but it sure sounds like your docs are on the ball. Thanks ja! And major kudos to chickenhawk for being grace under pressure.

My very best to you and yours. Will be pulling for the long climb from here,

...you've been & remain so positive, that to hear such genuine emotion set me back on my heels a little...

...despite a physical weakness compared to your old self, that core of strength you possess is going to bring you into & through these new procedures w/ the tools you need for your future...

...we all know it's still a long hard road...we know you're going give it everything you've got & i think we all humbly stand by the side of that road & hand up whatever support we can to a man we admire...

Great to see you outside this weekend Spencer. It was Noel's only birthday wish to celebrate with you and as always, you came through. I know it wasn't easy and at the end, almost tempting fate. Keep defying gravity. Stay determined. The only thing that separates true champions is persistence and determination, two qualities you are no stranger to. Endure Spencer. Like BGW says, we're here at the side of the road, handing up whatever support we can. (Which pretty much makes us Schloogs, right? We'll act accordingly....)

I saw you in a dream last night. You were driving into the mountains with a bike and a kayak on your car. You were really happy but little fragile still.

It was great to see you and Sarah and the girls over memorial day. We'd love to come visit again but it now sounds like you will be really busy. I'll check in with Sarah just in case though.

We are all sending you the very best of luck for the transplant.

Love,
Amy

Bocca al Lupo! Pazzo Italiano phrase for Good Luck. Literally, it means "In the Wolf's mouth." I figure you've been punching out wolf teeth for months now so it was appropriate.

It's significance has been explained a few ways, but the one I'm sticking to today is, it's gonna get worse before it get's better. Keep up the breathtaking courage, Stanford is going to be amazed. We love you.
